It’s time to go, family memorabilia, 223/365

I can do this. I can get rid of something at least every other day.
Today I put family memorabilia in a box, labeled it, and took it to the barn. I understand that it is hard to discard the champagne glasses that we raised to celebrate Jim’s parents’ fiftieth wedding anniversary, or the glasses celebrating the 1989 alumnae-guest golf tournament at Williams These are things Jim isn’t ready to get rid of, but for my purposes, I out of sight, out of mind. Good enough for me.

Day 162/365 It’s time to go, this and that

I’m not into getting rid of stuff these days; my heart isn’t into it although I want everything out. I just want it out without any work or effort on my part. When I have the time, I’d rather read or knit.
Can I blame it on these days of summer? Probably not, but I try. So in desperation, I called on my ‘5 minute purge’: set the timer and see what I can let go of. Today it was the bedroom, which is really two rooms, including our office. Aside from books, most of the stuff is my husband’s. But, along with a few trinkets,  I did find a bunch of audio-tapes with years of accumulated dust.

Day 159/365 It’s time to go, and it's time to take

Yesterday was a day of taking in, not of letting go. My sister is moving from her home of 45+ years to a condo, and so she absolutely has to let go of things. I drove to her house and loaded my trunk to help her out: a Ross tartan skirt that my mom wore every Christmas Eve,  some clothes (for the church rummage sale) and all kinds of my dad’s art work—paintings, copies of Christmas cards, and other memorabilia. I’m going to carry on Mom’s tradition and start wearing the skirt. As far as Dad’s art work goes, I can’t easily let it go, although I can envision giving his cards away.

Day 138/365 It’s time to go, Easter eggs

t,

You’re never to old to decorate Easter eggs, not to mention hunting for them on Easter morning. I bought two dozen for my grandkids to decorate, even though they are a little beyond the believing age. A good time had by all.
