Yesterday was a day of taking in, not of letting go. My sister is moving
from her home of 45+ years to a condo, and so she absolutely has to let go of things. I drove to her house and loaded
my trunk to help her out: a Ross tartan skirt that my mom wore every Christmas Eve, some clothes (for the church rummage
sale) and all kinds of my dad’s art work—paintings, copies of Christmas cards,
and other memorabilia. I’m going to carry on Mom’s tradition and start wearing
the skirt. As far as Dad’s art work goes, I can’t easily let it go, although I
can envision giving his cards away.
