Arcane tax returns, it’s time to go. 209/365

From the attic I brought down file-upon-file upon-file box of income tax statements for my husband to sort out and hopefully let go of. He earned a Grade A. We don’t need tax returns from 1997. Or do we? He asks.  You never know. But, gratefully he sorted,  bagged, and put them in the garage, ready for the shredder or the dump.

Once they are in the garage, I figure they are beyond my responsibility. The plastic file boxes, left over from my teaching days, are also out of my jurisdiction.

One big file box remains and up to the attic it will go.

Day 179/365 It’s time to go, more dust.

Before
I’m mighty pleased with the little shelf on my desk in the AR (Angel Room). It’s clear of dust and the pile of papers is now another pile of paper, but now on the floor. Not good, you might say, and I suppose you’re right. But I culled it down, throwing out some envelopes and little scraps of paper, and most importantly, now I know what’s in the pile. Somehow knowing what the stuff is becomes a stress reliever in itself.

Day 177/365 It’s time to go, papers in the file folders.

If I hadn’t promised to reactivate this blog, I wouldn’t have spent the time today clearing out these three plastic file boxes. But thank goodness I did—promise, that is. I work well with a purpose and a promise.

I tossed articles, correspondence and pictures, enough to free up 29 file folders. The three file boxes remain, but they are roomy now. Of course the file folders are waiting to be filled. Ugh, I hope that doesn’t happen, but I can’t get myself to throw them away, too.

Day 176/365 It's time to go, note paper and envelopes.

Well, shelf by shelf is my new motto. Today it was the shelf/organizer on my desk, the desk I never sit at. Too many envelopes and some note paper I will never use.  Then there was a bank deposit slip 2006, and a slip of paper with a telephone number. Whose number, you ask? I have NO idea. If I cared I could always dial it up. But, the point of all this is to simplify.
