Day 28/365 It’s time to go, big books

I passed on most of the big books from my teaching days to my daughter when she was teaching, but still have a couple lingering around here that have got to go.

Well, there’s one that I’m going to keep. It was one of the early big books published by Scholastic, back in 1980. Don Holdaway, my mentor, gave it to me and it was his favorite. What an experience to watch him read it with a group of kids during a shared reading session.  BTW, if you don’t know who Don Holdaway is, check him out on the internet. He knew how kids learned to read and how to get that to happen in school.
