Day 20/365 It’s time to go, newspapers

One corner of the attic is totally cleared; the high school and college notebooks and sport trophies are ready for the dumpster.

The big decision yesterday was what to do with the piles of newspaper article about the 1986 Boston Celtics Championship games. Out they go. Well, I’m saving one.

Of course, we can never let go of all the newspapers we have saved. How about this one from the January 20, 1967 issue of The Boston Evening Globe, with Nixon promising ‘Peace and National Unity’?

And then there is this poignant (and every so timely) issue of the July 21, 1969 Boston Herald Travel, announcing ‘Our Spacemen Walk On The Moon’, and showing pictures of Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins.

It’s worth noting that the Globe doesn’t have an evening edition anymore, and the Boston Herald Traveler, is no more.
