My most long-time friend sent
me this gorgeous flower arrangement to mark the anniversary of my mom’s
passing. I wanted to keep enjoying it until it wilted away, so I packed it in
the car to take on our six hour drive to visit our daughter. I didn’t want to
let it go.
But, on the way, as we pulled
into the care facility where my mom had lived for the last year of her life, I
realized that the time to let it go was NOW. Well, not let it go, but give it
with gratitude to the woman who had been my mom’s roommate and who, after Mom
died, had moved to the window side of the room. Every one involved loved the
gesture, and I know Mom would have, too.
