Day 38/365 It’s time to go, sitters in the kitchen

-->
       I decided I’d do a quick glance around the kitchen and see what I could easily let go of. Here’s the pick.

      The ‘solar mobile’ is a recent acquisition from the put-and-take; only after my husband reads this blog entry, will I know if he’s willing to let it go. Worth a try, I say. As far as “365 Reflections on Grandmothers”—I could write it. And the other stuff…easy.
      I do want to add, however, that there are many sitters still sitting around here that I’m not ready to send walking.

Day 37/365 It’s time to go, shoe rack in the closet

-->
     This shoe rack is broken so it has to go. Of course I thought I’d have to replace it, after all, we women know that shoe racks are almost as important as shoes. Really? Not so, I discovered.

        I lined up the shoes on the closet floor and found that they were quite happy flat on the floor.

     BTW, I apologize for the quality of this picture, but we live in an old house and there is no light in my closet.

Day 36/365 It’s time to go, books on the shelf

      This is a difficult one, the books on the remaining shelf. You see, most of them are part of my husband’s golf library, and I’m not sure if he’s ready to let them go.

     And alas, I’m not willing to let go mine, either. Most poignant are some favorites from my teaching days. Anyone who knows “Mrs. Wishy-washy” will completely understand. And then there is “Mrs. Piggy-Winkle.” Oh how all  parents wished she lived down the street! “The Hungry Thing,” “Dandelion” and “Thomas’ Snowsuit” don’t fall far behind.

      Also, there were some books about medieval times, monasteries and Scotland. I’m not through living through them yet.

      So, the best I could do was let go of two books.

Day 35/365 It’s time to go, stuff on the shelf

-->
     Yesterday I chose to tackle a shelf. But, what’s a shelf? One board or the entire piece of furniture? I chose the top and first shelf. Tomorrow I'll deal with the books on the bottom.

        Of course, along with some other family photos, I couldn’t let go of the picture of my mom.

    I also kept the set of Lucia novels, written by E.F. Benson in the 1920’s ( reissued in the '40's) and given to me for safe keeping for eternity by my mother-in-law when she was letting go of stuff at her house.

      My husband isn’t ready yet to let go of most of his golf memorabilia but he promised that he would stash it away out of my sight.
