Day 151/365 It’s time to go, golf memorabilia

     I’m still working on clearing out the ‘The Croft’, but before I go on, let me tell you the reason for the room’s name. It’s all about Scotland and I love Scotland. In fact, I often dream of living in a croft on the Scottish coast. So, in ‘The Croft’ I keep books, maps and other trinkets about Scotland and the Scottish doll that my grandmother brought me when I was a little girl. (My grandfather, Donald Ross, was born in Scotland and emigrated from Glasgow at the turn of the last century.) And then there is golf. Golf was also born in Scotland and St. Andrews is considered the oldest golf course in existence. It’s even rumored that Mary Queen of Scot played golf.

     Yesterday I cleared out the bureau and today I loaded my husband’s golf memorabilia on top, where it is waiting for him to do his part. Yesterday he decided to give three bags of golf balls, which were stashed away in the closet, to our grandson. Now, he has to let go of some golf pictures, pencils and sitters.
     Today, along with loading the top of the bureau, I sorted and organized the books. Alas, I only let go of one of them. It was the best I could do.

Day 94, 365 It’s time to go, Christmas decorations

The turkey is in the oven; in a few hours we will be taking it, along with ourselves and gifts from the put and take, to the family gathering at my niece’s.

      So what’s all this about Christmas decorations, you ask? Well, I’m hoping that the younger generations will want these ornaments and decorations that my husband gleaned from the put-and-take just before it closed at the end of October. I feel like I’m treading water again. All these Christmas sitters have appeared and we haven’t even tried to get rid of all the stuff in the Christmas boxes in the attic.

     Then there are these freebies. They drive grownups nuts, at least this grownup. The other day they were talking to me from the bureau draw that had become their home—their rental home. I’m evicting them today.

Day 70/365 It’s time to go…. I gotta find something

-->
      Another relapse. Never my fault, of course. I came home from stocking up on groceries in preparation for the upcoming storm, only to find this in the kitchen.
“What?” you ask.

     Well, so did I, to which my husband replied. “I just couldn’t resist it. Maybe we can hang it on the wall. Perhaps we know someone who has a horse.”
      Next I’m invited into the dining room to try out a make-shift ping pong table. Fair game. The grandkids are coming today. And besides, all of this gets me laughing, which is usually a good thing. “Don’t be so serious, Bobs,” I tell myself.

Day 51/365 It’s time to go, candle

    Sometimes I feel that I’m just treading water, but you know, that that’s not a bad way to stay afloat. How can we make progress getting rid of stuff when my husband keeps bring things home from the put-and-take? A week ago it was this candle and now I’m letting it go.

I wanted to keep it because I like the idea of three flames coming from one candle, but I doubt that I would ever light it. My daughter loves candles, and she lights them, so on it goes to her.
    BTW, my treading will stop at the end of the month when the put-and-take shuts down for the winter.
