Day 69/365 It’s time to go, water in the garage

    That’s what will happen in the spring. The plan is that our garage won’t flood from the run off of melting snow. In order to let go of this water, a truck full of gravel was delivered yesterday, all necessary for the installation of a sump pump. We just had one installed in our cellar, and now one in the garage. Such is the way of old houses at the foot of a hill. 

      As far as letting go of stuff, this project feels seems to be more letting go of stress and less about water. In fact, it feels like we are just treading water as the far as the lettingofostuff project is concerned. But not to worry, we have 296 days to go.

Day 68/365 It's time to go, children's books

My pictures don’t do justice to this morning’s sorting of books. As I’ve mentioned, I have a library full of children’s books that I accumulated during my teaching days. It’s not easy to let them go, so I’m doing it slowly, in gentle waves as I am so moved. Today I bagged some for the church fair and others for the put-and-take. 

And there were two with a musical theme that I'll give to the music director at church for her to share with her three young children.

I want a home for all these books and at the moment one of the homes is right here... mine.

Day 67/365 It’s time to go, napkins, placemats and tablecloths

    I love this chest that my husband made; it functions as a coffee table and stores table linen. We use the table part every day, but as for the contents, well, they are pretty much obsolete as far as our current life style goes. 

      Every year or so I try to clear out the chest, but this is the first time I’ve really let go of stuff. The sorting process was rather easy. I got rid of all the pieces that I don’t like, primarily sorting by color. 

      By the time my daughter takes what she wants from the discard pile, the put-and-take will be closed for the season and the church fair will be over. Good Will become one of my primarily lettingofstuff places.

Day 66/365 It’s time to go, guitar

    This guitar came from the put-and-take about a year ago, and is now going to the church fair. Since we accumulated it rather recently, I question whether is fits into the lettingofstuff category. And yet, here it is, taking up space and gathering dust, so out it goes. And to a worthy cause.
