Day 133/365 It’s time to go, firewood

    Here we are, anticipating the Blizzard of 2013, ready to let go of this firewood. I don’t need to tell you that the snow is already accumulating around here. If you live in the northeast you’ve been paying attention to the forecast and are preparing for power outages should the wind or fallen branches get the best of you. If you live outside the storm zone, you’re probably bored with all the Face Book comments. 

 

    My husband has resurrected the never-used generator that he purchased twenty years ago. Because it is all gassed up and ready to go, I think that he is secretly hoping to call upon it to keep our computers working and coffee brewing. 

   

 Regardless of the weekend weather, we will be letting go of firewood in our woodstove in the kitchen, just as we do every winter evening.  

Day 132/365 It’s time to go, mail order catalogs

   

I almost never order from a catalog. In the past forty years I’ve order from L.L. Bean no more than three times, but here they are, taking up shelf room: men’s, women’s, all the seasons, you name it. 

 

 

  Then there are catalogues from Talbot’s, J Jill’s, Country Curtains, Levenger (love that one), Great Courses, and more.

   

 Please, I’m not trying to compete with any of you, for as I’ve implied, I’m not even a small-time mail order junkie. But still, it feels good to let the catalogs  go. So, off to the recycle bin.
