When I was at Andover Newton Theological School the student
association gave us T-shirts. They only handed out big sizes, which was fine with
me--great to lounge around in. But I must admit that I didn’t wear mine much; I
hadn’t yet developed the art of lounging, and unfortunately for clergy types, no course
was offered on the topic.
Now that
it’s time to let go of the T-shirt, I have the perfect recipient: two and a
half week old Micah, son of my pastor, Tom and his wife, Rachel. It will take
Micah a while to grow into such a large size, but it does have his name on it. On the other hand he may have to steal it
from his father, whose favorite scripture is Micah 6:8, which just happens to
be written on the T-shirt:
What does the LORD
require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with
your God? Micah 6:8
