Dead apple tree. Day 187/365 It’s time to go.

When we bought our house the apple tree in the back yard was producing apples every fall. I must admit they were scrawny and bitter, and I confess we never sprayed them as the previous owner had suggested.

Each year the tree became more pathetic than the year before, and then last winter a blight hit apple trees in the area. We would drive along and see dead ones wherever we went.

So the other day my husband hacked down most of the branches and then decided to leave a tall stump for decoration.

Window blinds. Day 186/365 It’s time to go.

It is time to let go of the bedroom window blinds that were in the house when we moved in twenty-six years ago. We replaced the fabric. but it is now faded and ripping apart.
Why didn’t we do this sooner, we ask ourselves? The new Roman blinds, actually darken the room and are pleasing to the eye. Because they take up a lot less room, we can feel satisfied that we have less stuff in the house. After all, that’s our goal—well, most of the time.

Yard Sale Success. Day 185/365 It’s time to go, yard sale stuff.

Price low and your yard sale will be a success.
We were up at 5 setting up. The hours of the yard sale were 7AM to 1PM, but you can really only stave them off for an hour so by 6 we were making change and taking in quarters and dollars. An Asian man set up his grill and sold spring rolls and fried rice at the end of the driveway.

Big sellers were clothing, $1 a piece, and books, $.50 for hardbacks, $.25 for paperbacks.

Free companion of the motor cyclist.

The most fun was watching the pickers take everything we left at the end of the driveway.

Day 184/365 It’s time to go, yard sale stuff.

Tomorrow is the big day. We’ve been hauling, cleaning, organizing and pricing. Today it is more of the same, with emphasis on hauling books and clothes up from the basement. The good news is that tomorrow will be sunny but not humid. The bad news? Well, there isn’t any. All good.
